You know, I was expecting a really crap movie after reading all the reviews, but it wasn't nearly that bad.

I have to admit, however, that it was obvious a bit of the story was missing because it was cut out. You can still follow the movie perfectly, but parts just seem missing. The story that's in there shows glimpses of something good, but it's just cut up so much it's hard to tell. Acting was good (nothing great, nothing bad) and I loved the directing and effects. The editing was a bit sloppy at times, though, IMO.

Overall I'd say it was a good movie, but I'm definitely holding out on a director's cut Blu-ray or DVD.

3/5 for this version.... but I'm hoping the director's cut will be 4/5 wink.gif

Totally agree, Too many unanswered questions. Almost like the director gave up at some point.

^ According to interviews, the director didn't give up... Fox just demanded certain scenes be cut, which the director claims were vital to the plot. 15 minutes that the director wanted in were cut out.

5% on the RT meter. Wow. I had high hopes for this one.
Ayepecks
It's nowhere near that bad.

Wow, I was looking to go see this film sometime this weekend, but I think I'll hold off for the DVD/Blu-Ray Disc

Look at some of these reviews:
"I didn't even understand the title, much less the rest of the movie"
"...it's impossible to get excited about a movie when the leading man looks bored."
"Much mayhem, brawling, dubious CGI, close encounters of the sexual kind and mystical gibberish ensue. Little of it makes sense. Less of it is exciting."
"This is a case of a potentially epic tale being pruned and diced to the point where its underlying ideas are reduced to trite clichés."
"Did we actually NEED a brain-dead action version of Children of Men? I say no."
"Even if it never finds an audience outside L.A., someone ought to write a book called When Dull Films Happen To Clever Production Designers."
"When this Vin Diesel vehicle isn't pointlessly frenzied, it's narratively inert, wasting some decent production design, and a French-flavored cast primed for fun."

And the list keeps going. That's just half a page of bad reviews on RT. The ads for the film looks really good. To bad sad.gif

I just saw this Monday, but I agree with this sentence written above "...it's impossible to get excited about a movie when the leading man looks bored."

Also the end of the movie looked like they just gave up and started skipping time like crazy. One minute she found out she's pregnant and second later boom 9 months has passed and in 10 seconds she's dead and both kids are like what 10 years old. I think my jaws were open in last 2 min of the film and not in a good way.

Dude, spoiler tags please. Some people haven't seen the movie I'm sure.

@ Hurmoth: It's nowhere near as bad as the reviews are saying.

Granted I read reviews and will base some of my opinions on them, but I wish people wouldn't put ALL their faith in them.

On more than one occasion, I have read reviews that were 180 degrees from what I got from the movie. I guess in tighter times,
people are more hesitant to blow $8+ on a flick they might not enjoy.

I thought the movie was a total waste of $7. Seriously, the ending was terrible. It was too quick, and was a total WTF is happening moment.
Umbrello
With overwhelming negative reviews like that, they can't all be wrong.

I'll be staying far away from this one.

Couldn't be any worse than Dragon Wars.

Or any of the recent spoof movies?

Well I will go against my better judgement of listening to reviews...I vow to never watch Disaster Movie.
Minimoose
It wasn't very good, especially the end, that just made it many times worse but it still entertained me for an hour or so.
