Do any of you use dash cams in your car?

i've always wanted to get one and they're either complicated to set up or they're just too cheap.

so far the best one i've found is envisioncam, but for the $600 price... i can't afford it lol

i saw this in LA taxi cabs and they have a camera recording outside and inside and that's besides the awesome GPS features, but still, i can't afford it.

I'm wondering if there is something more simple, something i can stick a 4GB SD card in and just let it record whenever i drive in good quality, like 30fps at 640x480 would be awesome.

Then there's this... http://www.spytechs.com/spy_cameras/car-ca...CFRsRagod7nVtWw
but i was reading a lot of reviews on that on a lot of sites and a lot of people where unhappy with the video quality and the build quality as well.

  • lower insurance rates
  • evidence in case of an accident
  • who knows what you'll catch... makes for good liveleak video

if you don't have anything to contribute other than "it's pointless" don't bother. If it was pointless, i wouldn't bother posting this, it's obvious this has a purpose.

moving on now.

I do not know if this is exactly what you are looking for, but some people use cameras at the track to record their laps. I have not used them myself and have not really paid much attention to the brands or anything that others use. It is probably mostly for bragging rights, but is likely useful for critiquing performance as well. Maybe try a racing forum or head to your local performance shop or track event and see what those guys are using.

You make one yourself? Simple digicam and a self-made stand.
