What is COMODO Internet Security?

COMODO Internet Security is the product in which we have integrated COMODO Antivirus, COMODO Firewall and COMODO Defense+ in a seamless manner.

Our philosophy, as you well know, is about “Prevention” being your first line of defense. CIS now has an AV component however this AV component is there to make Prevention more usable. We believe in a Layered Security Architecture where Prevention - Detection - Cure (in that order) is the components needed for a good security. This release also addresses numerous issues previously reported in COMODO Firewall 3.0.x.x versions.

I wouldn't mind trying but what engine runs the a/v? How often do they push out a/v updates, what is their detection rate...etc

If I was still using a pc, I'd install and try it for sure. Comodo firewall used to be good.

I use Comodo firewall and so far I can't fault it!

The AV engine is inhouse.

As for detection, I remember it was tested a while ago and it wasnt too good. I dont know whats it like now though.

How do I only install COMODO Firewall?
Upon Installation, You will have the options to choose between: COMODO Firewall & COMODO Antivirus. Just uncheck "COMODO Antivirus" And you will get only COMODO Firewall which is like CFP 3.

I been using it for a while through the RC's, even with all components installed the memory usage is amazingly low.

I've been using Comodo AV 2 beta on one of my test machines and it seems to be quite ok, catching all the virus my KIS2009 has caught in the past month.

Never liked comodo, it made my internet very slow, and I'm on a university connection.

I have seen reviews of their firewall - all positive, but no reviews on their antivirus software. I tested a Beta of it and it sucked.

You can get the firewall on it's own from here. I'm assuming there is also an option within the internet security setup to not install the anti-virus.

Who is 'ssupdater' and why should I take their numbers seriously?

I have tried a-squared Anti-Malware some time ago and it actually flagged the windows explorer process and notepad and things as virus

Because these are the only numbers available, take or leave it. Don't care.

Sure, don't take it personally now.

My point is that I can build a website and put all sorts of numbers and tables on it.

So what makes 'ssupdater' more reliable than AV-Comparatives or VB100? What's their claim to fame?

I wouldn't read too much into a single set of results. Many other tests will have ones such as Nod or Kaspersky in the top few positions where here they are fairly far down. Between different tests theres usually hugely varied results so I wouldn't use the above as any real accurate benchmark on it's own.

That is a good comparative, but Comodo isn't even tested.
I doubt it's good then since I doubt AV-C will forget a "good" AV-Soft...

well, Comodo Antivirus was not even officially out at the time of last AV-C report.

and other "good" (and well-known) AV-soft it forgets : TrendMicro, F-Prot, Panda, VirusBuster, etc.
