I just got a printer, and I cannot install it for the life of me.

The computer is running Vista x64. I have the most updated drivers for the printer(canon pixma ip 2600) from their site.

When I begin the install it goes fine, until it gets to 'Registering the program information' and then it gives me an error stating 'An Error occurred while the files were being copied'.

I have tried to 'run as administrator', I called the 1800 tech support number they have, and they were telling me my computer was missing usbprint.inf, but they couldn't help me beyond that. Anyone know whats going on before I return this printer?

You can run System File Checker, which can also restore any missing or incorrect version, Windows system files

Log into an Administrator privileged account
Detach from your Internet/Network (usually unplugging the network cable)
And temporarily disable any live protecting software (like Antivirus software)
Click on Start , then enter CMD in the Search box
Right click on it and choose Run as Administrator
Type in SFC /ScanNow on the command line
Allow the scan to check all system files, you may need your original Windows CD during the scan
Restart, and then try re-installing the Printer driver again
