A fantastic sci-fi masterpiece. The film is very similar to the later released "The Matrix", but I think the latter is much more polished. 4/5

I found a lot of it to be very tedious, low-budget nonsense, with poor acting - but the premise was good.

OP: I could not agree more; I normally hate getting movies as presents, but when my father bought me Dark City I was extremely excited. I say this to show how much I actually like this movie. It's one of my top Sci-Fi movies, and I own it on DLC, DVD, & Blu-Ray. It almost ranks up there with Firefly, but Firefly is still in a class of its own.
