Way too strict, needs to be about every 4 years and I think they should have special consideration to adopt open-source licenses.

Yes, for the life of the author, and no.
My major problem is with the way patents work in the US, things are patentable that shouldn't be. Just a small example would be Apple's patent of the pinch gesture. Just holds back innovation and stifles creativity.

Copyright should last fr the life of the author IMO, and digital copyright is a special case.

Too strict, 5 years, Yes.
Current copyright time is a lunacy - it's more a copywrong than a copyright

5 years is fully sufficient, anything above that is just stifling innovation
