i got the intelli mouse software to install using Install shield Developer Trial version. All i did was edit the .MSI file and removed the OS check and the Custom Scripts which Auto detect the mouse and keyboard. And it seems to work fine. i appear to have all the options in the control excpet the battery option were it checks your batter state. Other than that it works fine. I downloaded the version from microsoft and with power arc 8 i extracted the contents to the desktop the i edited the .MSI file and installed it. You have to run the .MSI in the Directory it is in because the other setup routines check the os also. I used Virtual pc to check it and it works.

I saw that you are the only one that solved the IntelliMouse driver problem for Windows Server 2003

Can you please assist the others?

Thanks!!

okill try! Download the modified .msi file here

IP4_1.msi file

You will also see a file called mouse.gif this is the screenshot

Intellipoint Software

Windows Server 2003: just a workaround. Microsoft is aware of the problem. And an update to the software is due.

Instructions:

1. Extract the contents of the Intellipoint software to the desktop
2. locate the IP4_1.msi file in the extracted directory Ex. (Microsoft IntelliPoint 4.12\Mouse\SETUP) replace it with the one downloaded.
3. Follow Setup instructions.
4. After install don’t reboot.
5. Go to control panel and click on mouse. Select the hardware tab and update the drivers for the mouse. Make sure to browse to the location of the Intellipoint software. (Desktop). And select the file that specifies it as Intellipoint.
6. if all goes well some of the intellipoint control panel and buttons should work.
7. This doesn’t work for Bluetooth.

Sorry for the crudness of this. It works for me but not like xp but this is win2k3 smile.gif!
.....
Would you be able to do it for intellitype as well?

Thanks for the help!!
after replacing the updated IP4_1.msi file in the installation dir
I used:
msiexec /i IP4_1.msi
and the installation was completed
however it didn't work for my Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical.

this specific driver is not supported by Windows server 2003.
(after the installation was finished I also updated the driver in the hardware tab)
after this hard work I was a little disappointed...
but I am sure other Microsoft Mouse drivers will be compatble.
and that you helped other people smile.gif

Cheers

raindrop

PS
I was able also to patch the MSI and to bypass and install the driver on my Win2k3
I used msi2xml.exe to change IP4_1.msi to xml file, I removed the OS check form the LaunchCondition table and used xml2msi.exe to convert the xml file back to msi file (IP4_1.msi)

I will wait for the next driver release of Microsoft.
even if the new driver will not install on Win2k3
I will patch the new MSI installer.
hope the new release driver for Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical will work
.....
Could you tell us how you patched it so that I can try and patch the IntelliType software, or even better, patch it, and post a link ??? (please...)
Echilon
Thanks so much betap4, it works now biggrin.gif

ITs a first attempt to get this software to work but im sure microsoft is working on a version of windows server 2003. I uploaded the intellitype installer. once again replace it with the one downloaded. I hope this is considerded warez because my only intetions for this was testing. For some it may work and others it may not. smile.gif

just extract orginal Intellitype software to the desktop & replace the *.msi* file in the setup folder with the one downloaded. Start install using the *.msi* file and follow setup instructions. When done dont not reboot. Go to control panel select keyboard and update drivers. Select the intellitype directory as the location of the keyboard driver. Make sure the drive says intellitype and the restart.

i know a sorry attempt but it works biggrin.gif
.....
Thank You!!! biggrin.gif
.....
sad.gif I have just installed it (was using xp at the time) and whilst the software installs properly, it doesn't change the function of the button on the keyboard. (I do get the control panel etc though)

The buttons work like that regardless of whether or not you have IntelliType installed - its just that you need the software to remap them - which isn't working.

Hope I helped some people biggrin.gif

PS

this is a modified MSI, install it only on Windows 2003 Server) (and not on other OS)[/B]
raindrop
PS
I will keep the IP4_1.zip on the server for couple of days (its not my server)
can someone load this file and place a link in order to help other users?

if you have large ftp server I can put a full installer that extract the files and install the IntelliPoint drivers (For Windows server 2003)

.....
If you can do the same for intellitype, maybe that will get it to work properly ?

OK did the changes to the IntelliType too
(I can't test it, so please report if its ok)

Download Intellitype Driver from Microsoft: ITP2_22EngALLMsi.exe

Unzip the file (Using PowerArchiver Winrar etc.)

download the file ITPro2_2.zip from --Here--
unzip the ITPro2_2.zip and take the file ITPro2_2a.msi from the zipped file and put it instead of the original that you extracted from microsoft.
and double click on the new ITPro2_2a.msi to install the driver
(the path can look like \ITP2_22EngALLMsi\Keyboard\Setup\ITPro2_2a.msi)

it is very important to replace only this file, all the other files should stay in the extracted folders.

** This msi file is modified, Use it ONLY for Windows Server 2003
hope I helped...

Installs ok, just like that last one, but unfortunately, like the last one, it still doesn't work.

Thank you for trying again though.
