There's still an option to keep the full start page so people can choose what they like, it's about time Microsoft started opening up Windows to third party themes (Yes I know about the NeoWin darlings Stardock) but even they have to hack into system files, there should be a lot more built in customisation in Windows by now to stop MS forcing a design down people's throats.

If you buy a new PC it's most likely going to come with it's own copy of Windows anyway.

Cortana is being a typical woman...she's moody and unresponsive :P
Hopefully someone can help with this because it's really annoying.
All the Cortana demos I've seen show her as being very responsive but when I try to use her it's very hit and miss whether she will respond to "Hey Cortana", even though I've turned my mic volume up full, I've disabled the exclusive option in recording mixer so no software is taking the mic over, I've also disabled the volume changing in comms settings on the volume control.
I did notice that when I'm trying to invoke her my recording volume is being automatically changed by some program, I've checked Steam and the voice volume change is disabled in that and I'm not running any other programs which use comms.
Anyone have any idea what might be changing the volume or any reason why she would not be picking me up properly?

I'm using a USB headset (Plantronics 780), I've installed the manufacturer's drivers for this (WIndows 8 version as no driver yet for WIndows 10) as these are needed for the 7.1 Dolby.

A lot of people may want to have a look at this, maybe a good idea to feature it on the front page, credits go to Hexus.net and Callum (aka Rehok), my annoying neighbour in work

Why do you want to uninstall them? That's not a good idea, just change the default program in Settings>System>Apps to what you want to open files with and then remove those apps from the start menu. Uninstalling them will probably break something.

Did you check task manager to see if it's definitely running? If it's listed, maybe try killing the process and re-launch it?

The program is in "C:\Windows\system32\GWX", see if that's still there, you can just run "GWX.exe" inside there and it should show the icon again.

Doesn't seem to be listed there, it should be unique in that case.

That's not been released yet, it's going to be released in a few weeks apparently.

    OK, This is less nice....

So, If you need to do an install from scratch because of say a drive failure or you buy a nice shiny new SSD instead of the normal drive you had it installed on, neither of which is a wild scenario, you need to buy a full copy, unless you use the upgrade path again, that's a bit of a pain.

Well, it seems "Girish S" was right, even after installing all the speech and language packs for the UK, I'm getting this and it won't enable...

A little annoying since I've been using it in the UK all along as an Insider and also did using the RTM build we got.

Well I'm activated now thanks to the "Contact Support" app, online chat with a nice chap called "Girish S - Microsoft Answer Tech", got me to install the Microsoft Support app which let him take over (I work in IT support so it was weird to be on the other side), for some reason there were a few services which weren't running as they should be, so he fixed those, ran a command in the command window (Can't remember exactly what is was but it was netsh something restart), he rebooted the PC after it confirmed I would allow him, the contact app came straight back up after restart, he reconnected quickly and Windows was activated.
He told me something weird though, I'm in the UK but the speech pack was showing US so Cortana wasn't working (I've since added the UK English speech packs and will restart to see if it fixes it), he said that was by design and that the UK isn't supported for Cortana yet, I told him I'd been using it all through insider builds but he was insistant.....weird.

Here's some of our chat (I've changed my name in it )...

Think you folks will have a shock soon, if that's a generic key it (and the build it's good for) will expire. Microsoft have already said this will be the process for insiders, they will have timebombed builds.
