The Network Map feature introduced in Windows Vista is one that I miss a great deal in Windows 8.x. I hope that Microsoft will reinstate the feature in Windows 10. (Yes, I have already provided feedback.)

Nice PowerPoint slides from 2002 about most of the audio features that made it into Windows Vista. Note that the archived file links to a self-extracting zip archive. The contents must be extracted before one can view the slides. https://web.archive.org/web/20020506020208/http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/WHP/1.0/WXP/EN-US/WH02_AV05.exe

I asked about mirror link on his blog and got a reply that it does not work on Windows XP+. He suggested to ask about it on answers Microsoft. Read comments from your mentioned blog post.

Thank you, Zlip792. I never thought to ask on the blog because the post was so old. The last time I tried to contact a blog author about something like that I did not get a response.

I usually got a similar response, but I do leave comments on blog so other does get to know. I think you should now head over to Microsoft Answers and get what you require soon.

Perhaps others will come to appreciate this someday . . . http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc723472.aspx It should have been in Windows Vista.

The new Automatic Maintenance feature in Windows 8.1 sort of reminds me of the Maintenance Wizard in Windows 98. https://web.archive.org/web/19991013013156/http://microsoft.com/windows98/guide/Win98/Features/MaintenanceWizard.asp "Any computer needs to have some sort of regular maintenance. With the Maintenance wizard your computer can practically maintain itself."

Works for me. I don't think I would have any problems if computing revolved around specifications released by the Trusted Computing Group.
