if you ponder over the airplay page on the apple site, you will see typical image showing off the action but take a closer look at the ipod touch. Possible 3G enabled iPod touch?

I can't see that image on the Apple website so I could not find similar images.

To be honest that looks very much like the iPhone 4, although there is no way to tell as the left hand is covering up the main features such as the camera, speaker and various sensors.

true, but look at how thin the device is, doubt that is just an iphone 4, and even though the left hand is covering it, you should be able to see the front speaker (slightly)

ipod touch with 3G ... that's called an iphone. But the above image is just a generic looking render/photoshop of the front so it could either devices.

The same image is used on both the iPhone 4/Features/AirPlay page and the iPod touch/Features/AirPlay page but on the iPhone page they have 'shopped in an antenna break. OP is right, the device looks way to thin.

those pictures are always photoshopped. they take separate pictures and superimpose the movie screenshot plus other features. someone lazy enough didnt bother to notice that this is an ipod touch and not an iphone and added the bars. simple as that.

that could be the case but you can get 3g enabled ipads but they dont make calls.nativaly only recive data over 3g. calls can be made if you download a 3rd party app like skype.

apple may add 3g to ipods it makes sence for them to do so.

3G in an iPod touch makes no sense. It gets to the point where the differences between the products become too small. If anything, I can see the iPod touch disappearing in favour of a cheaper iPhone model (much like the system now where the previous generation is still available from Apple at a cut price).

Yes, because it's a data orientated device and by all means your able to make calls on the ipad, it's a completely different device and form factor but it's not of practical size to be used held up to the head for calling as you can see here:

The ipod touch on the other hand has everything the iphone has same form factor hardware screen etc and only lacks the cellular modem and related processing chips. Adding them would be like selling an iphone without an ear piece... why would they be dumb enough to bleed products into each others markets like that ? One's a phone, ones a portable media player and mobile internet device. It's more likely to stay that way.
