Dang, Arcane Orb w/ Frozen Orb rune received a nerf.  You always hope that all the other skills will be increased to match the OP skill, but that rarely happens.  I think it was the right call for Blizzard, but that was still my "main ability" that I farmed all my gear around.

People have to of known that nerf was coming. When 95% of the wizards you see are using a specific set up then you know there is something going on there that probably isn't right. in any event they didn't touch it's damage just the freezing part of it.

i have been slowly getting better gear. i just need to have enough time to sit down and play. I did 4 or 5 rifts and a couple acts worth of bounties the other day and only got 3 Legendarys and they were 2 patterns and a legendary crafting material

You'll probably get far more mileage out of your wizard if you get a decent 1 hand and off hand, not that that 2 hand sword you have is bad (I'd love to have it on my crusader). Also like Shadrack said you probably need more crit chance and crit damage. Also getting gear with stats like "<element> skills do 15% more damage" will actually do more to increase your dps than either of those 2 stats combined in the long run so look for gear with those attributes on it, too.

And finally for a while after the patch today a passive crusader skill was bugged out and it was determining it's damage based on torment level. In t6 I was making it crit for 300+ mil damage a hit. It's just a shame I didn't have the gear to survive in t6.

Two skills on the Wizard, Arcane Orb - Frozen Orb and Electrocute, have bugs with their implementation. Unfortunately, these bug fixes do have the side effect of weakening these skills.

It has been weakened.

I am getting way more damage with my Wiz with my Crushbane than I ever have so far with the one hand/offhand items I have found in my game. Sucks too because some of those off hand items look nice but once I equipped this, I haven't found anything better.

Of course use a 2 hander if you don't have a good 1 hand/off hand combo. But on a wizard the stat potential is way way higher with a 1 hander and off hand. You'll get far more int/vit/crit/arcane power on crit, etc.

With a 2 hander the most int you're gonna be able to get is roughly 1100. But with a 1 hander and off hand combo you'll be able to get upwards 1500 int plus cc/cd and other bonuses.

It's one of the things that make wizards so strong and easy to gear for and also why they're so popular right now. They don't need to worry about stacking all resist on their gear nearly as much as any other class in the game except for witch doctor because int provides it for them.

Yeah, but they didn't touch it's damage. They just fixed bugs with the skill..

  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where Frozen Orb was chilling for longer than intended
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where the Frozen Orb bonus damage radius was hitting a larger area than intended

See? They didn't touch it's damage.

I'm still using frozen orb and for fights where it counts, elites and bosses, it is essentially the same.  Had to let go of some DPS to up my healing and toughness for Torment.  I wasn't healing very effectively.  In fact, I'm still not happy about my healing.

Got my first Legendary Potion drop though while playing Torment 1 :).  Its the one that adds bonus heal on hit for some time after using the potion :D.

If you rerolled the attack speed for a socket, and put in a green gem...omg...

I have always disliked whirlwind, because I find it to be a boring skill. However, I currently use and have used it for a long time because I feel like it's the only "good" fury spender.

Anyone have another build that they like? One that doesn't use whirlwind?

To be honest, I was enjoying Seismic Slam more since RoS (was...my 70 HC Barbarian died).  The fury generated by the damage taken from standing in AoE (like poison slime) was generally sufficient to "spam" Seismic Slam which IMO yielded higher damage output than whirlwind.  Whirlwinds clear advantage is in mobility as it is one of the few barbarian abilities that allows for easy maneuvering around and directly through monsters.

Yeah, I like Seismic Slam a lot too, but I found that it's fury cost was too high for the damage it deals when compared to whirlwind. Which is my whole problem. Without truly testing it, I feel like at full fury I can whirlwind long enough to do more damage than the 3 (or 4 with the fury passive) slams you get. All while doing 360? aoe damage and being able to move. Whirlwind seems like it's clearly the best fury spender to use...I just don't like using it.

I'm not sure why it was, but in most cases of fighting Elite packs fury generation was never a problem for me and I could "spam" the slams without worrying about losing all my fury.  I agree with your assessment, that if you get more damage/fury out of whirlwind then that is probably better.  If your fury generation is high and you can spam the slam, then I think Seismic Slam is probably better.

It's the main reason I'm going to just get my barb to 60 (currently 58), buy the expansion and 70 my Wizard (currently 60 p.15). Barb's are boring to me. At first it was awesome, whirlwind'in every mob, but it gets boring. Wizard however I still very much enjoy. I currently do 300K DPS and I'm wondering what happens to that when I hit 70.

I don't know what class I'll play after my Wizard . Probably a Monk. My Barb will likely never hit 70 unless they do something to it that makes it less whirlwind and more something else.

I wish that they would allow us to use the console UI in the PC Version.

Totally!  All modern console controllers work on PC.  It would be terrific if they would add that and also same-screen coop if you have multiple controllers.

you can but you'll have to set the button mapping on the console controller's settings

Diablo 3's 2 year anniversary is tomorrow. They're giving us a community buff for a week that gives double blood shards and 100% increased legendary drop rate. I think I might have to play a bit this weekend.

Played some post-patch D3 last night on my Crusader; my damage has pretty much been doubled! Epic :D

I had been rolling around on Master as I was getting smoked in rifts by yellows, but I'm now comfortable on TI and considering TII.

Just run 2 rifts on TI, and thanks to the Diablo birthday buff I got 2 set-piece recipes, 3 legendary recipes and 3 legendary crafting mats. Tidy :)

Unfortunately the mats aren't those needed by the new recipes :(

I'm also enjoying the anniversary buff. Picked up a Thunderfury and Fate of the Fell for my crusader amongst many others last night.

My friend is anxious to play this weekend too (after taking a few week break) because of the anniversary buff.  Interesting psychology Blizzard plays with us!  If they had the drop rates always at this "anniversary buff" rate, interest in the game would probably wane to the level it is currently at.  But now, "Oh...more leg drops, I wanna play!"...lol
