MidnightDevil
Well, today I decided to give a try to Palemoon, a new optimized browser for latest cpu's based on Firefox. I tried Chrome, IE64 and Opera. The idea of all this was to decide which browser I would configure to run from a Ramdrive for performance purposes. Now, don't bash me, cause I'm not total expert in this, but I gave it a go. Using Peacekeeper I used 4 browsers. - Palemoon x64 (which is based on Firefox). - Opera. - IE64 - Chrome All these builds were the latest stable.... and I was expecting more from Palemoon, but either way, here is the screen. Now, please, don't bash me or flame me, this is no browser wars, mere informative test to decide which browser will I run from my 500mb ramdrive. I'm guessing the winner goes to Chrome. Feel free to comment and ask any question or suggestions, I'm opened to sugestions about what I intend to do. Cheers :-)
Xilo
Results are kinda meaningless when you aren't also including regular Firefox in there to compare with Palemoon.

MidnightDevil
You're totally right, I forgot to include Firefox, which is why because I did a test just between Palemoon x64 and Firerfox 7.01 I think Palemoon managed to stay behind. :|
Ambroos
Peacekeeper is a stupid benchmark. Do a V8 and a SunSpider benchmark too ^^ !
tanjiajun_34
On Topic I don't think peacekeeper is accurate anymore. All browser kept update and chrome and opera is always the top...IE8 to IE9 has not much changes to the score too but in fact it should change a lot. Well but I still feel chrome as the fastest to me (IMO). Off Topic Anyway I think you should be posting here ... https://www.neowin.net/forum/forum/110-web-browser-discussion-support/
Phouchg
Compiling usual Firefox source with a few specific tweaks using 64-bit compiler will, of course, yield no result, even slow it down. So, although I'm using x64 build currently, I wouldn't expect it to be faster than x86 counterpart. It's a damn shame that x86-x64 transition will soon hit 10 years, too. Hey, btw, does Peacekeeper still not include Canvas score into total score? I can't be arsed to sit through the test to be disappointed with it again. Although it wouldn't change the scores much anyway. It's patently obvious that Opera and Chrome are always faster.
still1
Do a SunSpider test of all that browser you did and post the result... that would be a good test too.
Jub
There's a new Peacekeeper (2.0) in public beta with no registration required. May I ask why you didn't use it? :) Thanks for your efforts, nevertheless.
Aethec
IE x64 has a slower JS engine than IE x86... +Zlip792 1 Share

May I ask why you didn't use it? :) Thanks for your efforts, nevertheless. Good to know... Now testing your browsers HTML5 features: HTML5 video, WebGL 3D graphics and multithreaded Web Workers. These tests do not count toward the overall performance score. While generally HTML5 is far from a standard, what's the point of benching if bleeding edge features (that are widely used already, I might add) are not counted towards the score? So the total score is actually as useless as a benchmark score can be. The only viable scores are the subscores which actually show where each browser has bottlenecks. For example, on my machine FF10 x64 gets 2064 points, IE9 x64 gets only 1305 points. However, FF is 1/4 slower at rendering and has rougly the same 70k points at text-parsing (guess why - because IE skyrockets in one of five text-parsing subtests) while IE is roughly 50% slower at everything else. And, one more thing, IE9 doesn't actually "feel" slower when using it. Oh, now to the surprise - IE9 x86 (with the optimized Chakra engine that x64 doesn't have as Aethec correctly remarks) - 2085 points, getting skyrocket score in data processing and text-parsing. My FF is likely bogged down by addons. Remark to the OP: afaik, IE9 install location cannot be moved even if it did happen to be top-scorer. MidnightDevil
Do a SunSpider test of all that browser you did and post the result... that would be a good test too. Never did a SunSpider, I knew about Peacekeeper which is the one I used. I will perhaps do the same tomorrow using the 5 browsers using SunSpider, i'll post it here if so :) Thank's for the suggestion. There's a new Peacekeeper (2.0) in public beta with no registration required. May I ask why you didn't use it? :) Thanks for your efforts, nevertheless. Like I said above :) I barely knew PeaceKeeper, tomorrow I'll do some more benchmarks using the Peacekeeper 2.0 using all those browsers above, hopefully we'll get some more accurate results, thank's for the suggestion :) @ cralias, I know IE9 can't be moved, it's the only browser I'm not considering using on Ramdrive lol, but I felt like including it in the tests to see how much it has improved in terms of performance comparing to the every other browser. Maybe I will include Safari too, I think it's worth a fair trial lol. Thank's for all the suggestion and replies, they will be considered. Next benchmark I will use SunSpider and PeaceKeeper v2, using the browsers IE9 x86 and x64, Firefox 7.01, Safari, Palemoon, Opera and Chrome :) Any suggestions on the next benchs? Thanks :)

Here is the sunspider link http://www.webkit.or.../sunspider.html That would be awesome if you post Peacekeeper and sunspider for all the 32 and 64 version of Browser. I could have done it but I am at work and use outdated 32bit XP which will rule out 64bit FF and IE9 32&64 bit
MidnightDevil
I will do it tomorrow, no worries, far as x86 and x64, I will try to do it with IE and Palemoon / Firefox since there is no chrome x64 yet for windows, neither opera or safari. I just hope at least (cause I had a look at Peacekeeper 2 right now) with IE x86 and IEx64 and the test didn't recognize the difference between then (like it was the same browser). I will put some more effort into it tomorrow. :)
~Johnny
Peacekeeper is a stupid benchmark. Do a V8 and a SunSpider benchmark too ^^ ! Peacekeeper is a better judge overall than V8 & Sunspider... considering the latter 2 only test javascript performance, whilst Peacekeeper tests a whole range of browser features.
