iOS5 GM and Passcodes

Recommended Posts

Anyone else on the iOS 5 GM having issues with passcode unlocks?

I slide to unlock, the phone freezes for about 5 seconds until passcode screen finally shows up, I enter the code and another 5 seconds go by until my icons load on the homescreen.

It started happening when I added e-mails to my notification screen, however since then I've turned them off and am still having the problem.

I've also removed and re-added my passcode. Same slowness.

Right now I've disabled my passcode, and everything runs normally.

Is there a fix to this problem?

Well, it seems logic to need to enter the passcode when you're waking your phone up. You clearly want people not to read your emails, right? So, having them show up in your Notification Center will make other people able to read your emails, even though you've slapped a passcode on the Mail app. So I guess you either have to take the emails out of your Notification Center or disable the passcode feature.

So, I'm not really seeing this as a problem that needs a fix. I see it as a security feature :)

I'm not having this issue on my iPhone 4. I have Email notifications shown on the lock screen.

I don't think you understand the problem of the OP. He is experiencing laggyness for some reason and doesn't seem to be concerned about security.

Anyway, you could just disable the "Show Preview" toggle in the Notifications settings for Mail if you are concerned about security.

Ooh, my bad. I thought he meant he was annoyed by having to type the passcode ONLY because of the emails in the Notification Center. Yeah, makes sense that the 5 second freeze is annoying. I personally wouldn't know what might be causing that :s
