Restarting computer causes it to restart a second time...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding a new computer that I've built.

I'm using a Gigabyte P67A-UD3R-B3 (rev. 1.1) motherboard. I have upgraded the BIOS firmware to the latest (version F6).

I don't know if this is a problem/fault or whether it is by design.

If I press the reset button, the computer restarts as it normally would, however just after the POST screen it will restart a second time by itself and then continue to boot up normally.

This does not happen if I shut it down or turn it off by the power button.

Is this supposed to happen, and if not then what could cause it?

Thanks :)

When I read your topic my first thought was, "I bet that's a Gigabyte MB." I thought that because I have one and it does this as well. My older board (P45) did this, too. When you're hitting the reset button, the BIOS is checking for a bad overclock so it boots twice. Sometimes it will even change your clock and memory speeds to make the system more stable. Yes is normal for almost all new Gigabyte boards. You have nothing to worry about.

no, it's the front panel wires, those are always a pain. try reconnecting all of them if you haven't already. there's nothing wrong with your board i'd wager.
