QANTAS Grounds Entire Fleet In Response To Industrial Action

Recommended Posts

The Queensland and Northern Territories Air Service (QANTAS), Australia's national airline has grounded it's entire international and domestic fleets without warning.

In response to ongoing industrial action by the Pilots, Ground Staff and Engineers unions, QANTA has grounded all 108 of it's international and domestic fleet.

There was no warning given by QANTAS of this action, so unsurprisingly a lot of customers are rather annoyed, and the Australian Government isn't far behind.

The Australian Government has moved for a hearing to terminate all industrial action under the fair work act. Should this fail, the Australian Government can unilaterally terminate all industrial action.

On a side note, it's likely that QANTAS didn't forewarn anyone as a result of ASIC stock manipulation legislation.

Qantas is he sh*test airline and I do anything I can to avoid having to fly with them. Let them bankrupt themselves - all they're doing is attempting to move their labour offshore to reduce wages and undermine their staff.

You are very right, for work we ONLY go virgin. Qantas makes us feel like we used a delorean and went back to 1993

Leaving aside whether QANTAS is a good airline, the demands being made by the unions are a bit beyond the pale.

It's well worth looking up should you have the time.. QANTAS wouldn't survive those kinds of demands in the long term.

Other then that, sucks to be flying QANTAS :\
