B&N just announced and showed off the Nook Tablet; http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/nook-tablet-barnes-noble/1104687969

Key things about it are the screen - they're claiming it'll be great indoors and outdoors, which makes it along with the Kobo Vox ($200) the only affordable tablet to have such capabilities (otherwise you're going up over $1000 for something from Motion Computing). The advantage of a tablet over a netbook or laptop is that it's far more portable and you can use it standing up, but what's the point of having such a device if you have to stay inside to use it?

Claimed battery life looks very good as well, and the tech specs are actually good enough to run Android properly. While I doubt the Kobo Vox would ever handle ICS very well, the Nook Tablet could probably handle it without a hitch, so that would just depend on rooting it and tossing MIUI on it.

From a practicality standpoint also ever since I got my hands on the PlayBook it was pretty obvious to me that 7" is the ideal size, easy to thumb type on the keyboard in portrait mode, easy to hold one handed at the edge rather than having to cradle, nice and light and small enough to easily fit into a coat pocket or any bag, whereas a 10" tablet is only going to work in a bag and it has to be a certain size.

There are far more people who haven't bought a tablet of any kind than people who have. Wouldn't say it's late at all. I'd imagine more than a few people have like me been waiting for something like this at this price point since the iPad made tablets more mainstream.

I was stating it was a little late for me, not others. :)
