Lumia 800 low battery life, say whaaaa?

Recommended Posts

Is anyone getting sub-par battery life on their Lumia 800? My phone looks like it'll be dead after only 5-6 hours of use and that's with only an average day of usage (i.e. an hour of music, bit of gaming, bit of internet browsing, texting, etc). Is it a case of where the Lumia 800s need to be charged a few times before we get a proper battery life or is this the norm? Because if so... that's not too great :/

To be fair, there's poor, then there's awful. Even 4G handsets in America have better battery like then 6 hours for pete's sake.

Thank goodness... because 6 hours is seriously not cool!

I've had battery issues with my Samsung Galaxy Ace before, to the point where I managed to drop to a quarter of the battery from a full charge in no more than 90 minutes, yet the most intense thing I was doing was using Twitter. That was unusual for me but I'm glad Nokia have acknowledged the problem as well.

You do realize that I love sarcasm. That is the point that I am trying to make. For every evolutionary/revolutionary leap that is made with smartphones battery life is going to suffer unless that same leap is made with batteries. Especially when it comes to current generation 4g handsets. But it's like beating my head against a brick wall....it doesn't get me anything except for one hell of a headache.

Yeah, don't worry, expect a update soon'ish. New OS build and all, 7740, wonder what other phones will get this build as well? I haven't been home so I haven't connected my LG Optimus 7 to a PC to see if there's a update but I somehow doubt it.

One thing I have noticed is that I think if you keep yourself signed on to WLM and FB chat on the phone that battery gets used a bit more than if you're not. I used to have it on since the mango update and noticed the phone doesn't last as long, but on the other hand it could just be me using the phone more than pre-mango now that I can actually buy games and apps etc.

Still, anyone notice a difference to battery life if they keep signed on in chat or not?

Come on now. Is not having to recharge your smartphone in the middle of the day too much to ask?

I've noticed battery life is a little shorter on my HD7 but I do have a lot of background tasks running. It could also be that I'm playing a lot of Survivalcraft as well.

Ya, it might just be from me using it more than before since i'm on the move and not at my PC as often so I have to use the phone to check for updates.

Still, I had my 3 mail accounts set to update every 30min so I decided to change that to every hour now, I don't get much email around this time.

I do have Battery Saver set to enable itself though so I seem to get a lot longer battery life than before.

So do I, when battery saver turns on you're basically getting a feature phone so you have to update things manually but it'll get you another, hmmm, if it's just sitting there, 5-8hrs? I haven't really left it to die out on me after battery saver kicks on so that's just a guess on my part.
