Bonus question for question 3:

What about tech savvy and non-savvy friends - any difference for you?

I use MS Office at work all the time but I wouldn't inflict on my worse enemies the nightmare of using a database for personal use. I do play with LibreOffice base at home sometimes, but for nothing concrete.

Anyone using iTunes, WMP, Winamp, Picasa, etc is using a database!

True, but I took the question to mean more like record-keeping databases rather than iTunes and iPhoto. If the poll had included options such as iTunes and iPhoto, I would have selected that option rather than saying "no, I don't use databases."

While I do use iTunes and iPhoto, I don't use Access. I can't understand the point in my personal time. In fairness, there are times where I can't understand the use at work either!

Ehm. Windows Search?

Ugh...

Filesystems don't always cut everything in the most graceful way.

To each his own.

The poll says general purpose database programs, so it leaves out the obvious candidates that are specific per se:

iTunes, iPhoto, etc...
