Recover data from an ex-encrypted volume?

Question

Hi guys,

So, im here now because I did massively big mistake.

I deleted the wrong volume by mistake. This volume that I deleted was a unmounted truecrypt volume. 92gb with 80gb of data.

Its useless using truecrypt now because it wont find the encrypted volume since it was deleted. I have the drive in front of me, formated as ntfs and it seems useless to run getdataback ntfs on it since it didn't find anything at all but a couple of useless files, an empty $extended folder, recycle bin and some useless files.

Now my question is, is there anyway to recover the files on this volume? Is there any work around this?

Any help is greatly appreciated :) Thank's in advance.

Was the truecrypt volume a full partition or just a file volume? What is a hidden volume?

Some more details of your setup would help.

But off the cuff -- sorry but your F____!

Just pull your files from your backup ;) Oh wait let me guess these files that are so important they need to be encrypted and you don't have a backup??

Well I don't know anyone that backs up their porn ;) it doesn't seem important until you lose your whole collection. You shed a tear, and then you rebuild! :shifty:

It was a full hidden partition. I do have a backup, but that encrypted drive was a repository from diferente sources, I have some backed up but not all of them. Yes, you got the concept. It was so important that I couldn't risk it backed up to a plain dvd :b

@Simon-, It wont be an easy task to rebuild, I may not see any of those girls again

If it was a full hidden partition - dude its GONE!!

Did you happen to backup your volume header? You can look here

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Recover_a_TrueCrypt_Volume

But since its hidden, I really doubt your going to get it back unless you have the proper backups for the truecrypt headers and such.

Guess you learn to backup now -- yes you can do encrypted backups for those ultra secret launch codes your collecting.

I actually had the headers, in a usb pen that is gone since last week. I guess i shouldn't ignore the signs when the universe decides to screw you big time lol.

I do backups, actually kinda often. But since I'm out of a job right now I can't spend any money on extra dvd's or drives to backup the largest bits.

Anyway, I wont die from this, lol. I just have to keep collecting launch codes
