So uhh, I just saw "The Thing" . . .

I love scary movies, I love being scared and I also enjoy the occasional gory movie like Saw or Hostle. There is a line that you just do not cross in movies and well this movie was right at that line, at least for me. The 2011 remake of The Thing is well, for lack of a better word(s), crazy disgusting. I have seen all the gory movies that are out, all the movies that make people say it's gross, made them sick, etc. I have watched them and was really not bothered by any of them by much. Yes, Hostel had its moments, but this movie really had a lot of moments where my mouth just dropped and was like "no ******* way." Very few movies have left me in a just freaked out mood and this one has done just that.

The part that really got me was when The Thing started merging with that dude who was laying on the floor. That right there just did it for me and there are very few movies, well if there really are any besides Pin Head, that could really attempt to beat anything like that.

Anyone see this movie and if so what are your feelings for the movie?

Heh yeah this was pretty nasty, to be honest I was pleasantly surprised with this one. A lot of negative reviews about this but I enjoyed the original and this remake. Both are fun to watch.

You never know who is 'infected' and you always feel like one of them is going to grab out at anytime as they were so enclosed.

Yeah I know, I still would like to know what happened to the guy who went out looking for the two who came from the heli crash, he was my fav. And I would also like to know if in fact the guy at the end was one of the infected. I only ask the last question because he did not really turn into something like I would have expected him/it to do when he/it caught fire.

Was a nice use of the cgi as up till that point I wasnt too impressed. This movie vs the 1982 one paints a stark contrast with what the other elements of cinematography can do to paint a feel for a movie...the technology of the 1982 is now over 20 years out of date yet their are elements of it that are more realistic than this one and also the overall 82 one has a thrill/suspence vibe to it which this one just lacks completely.

Overall though fine popcorn flick, not as bad as some reviews make it out to be,

I thought it was a pretty decent movie. Popcorn was not even entering my mouth when I had it cause food was no longer appatizing after a few of those parts. lol

Watching the movie right now, can't say it's disgusting.. It's pretty obvious it's CGI but still really convincing... SAW is 100x worse as far as gore goes.. Half of the movie to go and really enjoying it!

I enjoyed the movie, however, have to agree with an earlier poster, the 1982 version was a bit better. The 1982 version caused by youngest son (10 years at the time) to get up and leave the theater; now it is one of his favorite all time movies. . . :woot:
