Radio1Now - Tells You The Song Playing On Radio 1, 2, 1Xtra & 6 Music

Recommended Posts

I'm guessing this is the correct category. Even though its a website, its still software. Of course if I've broken the rules, please remove this topic!

Ever listened to a song on the radio and missed the name of the song or artist?

Radio1Now aims to tell you the current playing song of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC 1Xtra and BBC 6 Music.

It also tells you the current DJ and the next DJ on the station.

However, I think the main feature of the site is the 'Song Archive'. It tells you all songs played on each station up until 2005, complete with the time they were played. The Song Archive also tells interesting statistics about the Artist or Song on that station, such as how many times the song has been played or when it was first played.

I've been programming the current version of the site over the last few weeks, and this is sort of my public release. You lucky neowinians!

I made this not too make money, just because I use it. Its a real useful tool to have, and has come in useful to me quite a lot over the last 5 days I've been testing it.

So please try it out, tell me if the site doesn't work and I would Love to hear your feedback.

I should also say this site was supported by BBC's backstage project. Read more about them here (

This has been done for 5+ years by every single station in my area... Not sure what makes this so awesome...

When I started this, the BBC didnt have any option to see what songs been played. They do now, but they dont offer anything like the song archive feature. Probably a english thing..

That great. Navigating Radio one site sucks. It was even a challenge to find the frequency of it.

They've got a fairly decent site now. Radio 2, 1Xtra & 6 Music however, still have lower quality sites.

This isn't really a replacement for BBC's sites - It's more like an alternative take on it.
