A home remodeling project almost paid off for a Troy homeowner, after sheets of cash were discovered inside a wall, according to the Troy Police.
The only problem: the money found hidden by workers hired to remodel the master bathroom on Kirk Lane were counterfeit, Troy Police Lt. Robert Redmond said today. The workers found six 8 ½-inch by 11-inch sheets of printed $5 bills in the wall, Redmond added.
The homeowner, who has lived in the house for more than a decade, reported the find at noon on Monday. Troy Police forwarded the bills to the United States Secret Service.
