Microsoft SkyDrive App rolling out to the Marketplace

Recommended Posts

The Microsoft SkyDrive app has been launched. SkyDrive was recently opened up to developers to use with their application (e.g. Handyscan) and now you can access and manage your SkyDrive from a stand alone application.

The SkyDrive App allows you to browse your entire SkyDrive files and share them. Just tap and hold on a particular file and folder and pop-up menu appears. Here you can choose to send a link that will let others view the file/folder or view and edit the file/folder. You can also organize, delete, and create new folders from within the application.

at least they are finally starting to make proper ways to access skydrive besides via a browser. hopefully they'll start doing the same on windows itself.

Just map it as a network drive, then you'll be able to access it in explorer just like a regular drive.

Windows 8 and the next WP update, tango or maybe WP8 itself, should have more direct integration with skydrive and not require a app or the web browser.

That's what I expect anyways. This app on WP7 is a nice stop gap you could say, look at the Games hub in v7.0 that was limited and how they released the xbox live extras app, now in manga the xbox live extras app is more or less redundant. I expect the same to repeat with skydrive.

Awesome!

I had no idea there was going to be a WP7 version!

Last time I tried that it was painfully slow.

Maybe it's just me...

It is a bit on the slow side but the best option would be to keep a local copy of the files and have them in sync with SkyDrive by using Mesh.
