10-year-old boy in Sweden strangled 4-year-old

STOCKHOLM (AP) ? Police in Sweden say a 10-year-old boy has confessed to killing a 4-year-old boy in a village earlier this year.

Police said Wednesday the boy strangled the younger one with a skipping rope Oct. 16, but declined to comment on the motive.

Local media reports say the 4-year-old was killed after running off from a playground in the southern village of Ljungby where he had been involved in a dispute with other children.

The boy was found dead in a shrub near a residential area a few hours later.

More than 35 police officers have been involved in the investigation and at least 65 children, aged between 5 and 15, have been questioned.

Children under the age of 15 cannot be punished under Swedish law and the matter will now be handled by social services.

I seen the title and thought it might have been some sort of accident, but now that he was found in a shrub hours later after some sort of thing happened in a playground. Seems like the 10 year old was either trying to hurt him really bad or kill him.

What do you do with a 10 year old kid who murdered someone?

A normal 10 year kid old wouldn't murder someone...

A 10 year kid with problems may kill someone but would admit it for sure the same hour he did it...(feeling bad etc like a normal human being)

A seriously dangerous sick 10 year old kid would kill someone and even hide the body AND keep it a secret for multiple hours!

I guess he's part of the last option from above, such kids must be closed up for lifetime if theres not a very very good reason for what he has done...

Reciprocate.

Anal probe I would say! Then serve his frontal lobe with some fava beans and a nice Chianti...

And no, I'm not from Sweden!

, not really sure what...? Just so that you know, it's, "....punish them in an awkward way..."!

In any event they won't get "punished" in any way whatsoever! The modern way is to wipe their backsides and talk nicely to them! Later on when these people become mass murderers, the mob who run these social services are stumped as to why all the nice talking did not help!

Well apparently after someone kills it only gets easier.. ontop of that we adopt the skills and patterns we maintain for life (At least to a certain degree) from our childhoods.. add the two together and wow.. this kid will be messed up!

Over here it's somewhat every month in the news about pedophiles etc in the church :p

Maybe it aint such a thing in the news over there :/

Anyway you can do what you want with these kids but I'm sure nothing would help, they're just sick and always will be in my opinion...

In the US the age at which a minor can be charged as an adult for heinous crimes varies by the State since they handle the vast majority of criminal offenses. Minor can be defined differently, but it's usually between 14 and 18. In Michigan the youngest murder conviction was at 11, and Indiana charged an 11 year old this last summer.

I say usually because a Juvinile Court judge can issue a waiver for some kids, often bottoming at 9-12, allowing charges to be brought in adult court. They can't be executed if they weren't 18 at the time of the crime, but they can serve life without parole. Several states are even tougher, allowing adult charges at any age - Florida for one. Murder charges can also be brought in Juvinile Court but the kid can usually only be held until age 18 - 21, again depending on the State.

Some states are also implementing a form of Preventive Detention - committal in a psychiatric institution after a criminal sentence has been served, but this is mostly aimed at sexual predators; pedophiles, serial rapists etc. Still being hashed out as to if it'll spread.

Over here they let the kid just walk free and then sue him when he becomes 18 if they're smart enough, simple as that :p

Bad seed - some people are born sociopaths, a subset of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), showing the symptoms of conduct disorder when quite young - even when raised in a good environment. Some like this kid 'bloom' early. Up to 40% of kids with conduct disorder later develop full blown ASPD.

If they're genetic sociopaths they're born that way, with some diagnostic types having sadistic & abusive behavior as a basic feature. These come out primed & ready - usually showing a conduct disorder from a young age.

Kids with the trait but no expression of the disease can be flipped by a negative environment, but not necessarily an abusive one. Other, normal kids get it from abusive environments.

Your classic serial killer profile is sociopathic & sadistic behaviors as kids; ex: setting animals on fire or dismemberment, fire setting, suicide attempts, sexual fetishism etc., long before working their way up to humans.
