The company, Burnt Impressions, sells 50 to 100 toasters a day. The customized appliances are also available in other patterns, including the Virgin Mary, a peace sign and a pot leaf. Hmm.

Even before the religious toasters, believers would occasionally spot Jesus and Mary in their bread.

One lady even sold half a grilled-cheese sandwich with the Virgin Mary on it for $28,000, and an episode of Glee last year featured a ?Grilled Cheesus.?

Seeing religious figures in toast has become such a phenomenon that researchers have studied how our brains come to discern familiar faces from random patterns.

At Northwestern University, they found that the circuitry of the human brain sometimes gets people to catalog shapes as something meaningful to them, like an animal, face or something else.
