Is Sonic one of the few franchies?

Recommended Posts

Just noticed (far as I can tell) that Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the few franchise I can think of (thats probably at lest a decade old) that hasn't really ever been 'remixed' (given graphical update*). What do I mean?

Capcom

Resident Evil (1 & 4) - 'remake' for the GameCube and 4 on the HD consoles I'd guess.

Konami

Castlevania (Rondo of Blood for the PSP

Nintendo:

Mario Bros (Updated graphics in All-Stars)

Super Mario Bros (1-3) [(Updated graphics in All-Stars)]

Zelda (Ocarina of Time for the 3DS)

Square (Soft|Enix)

Final Fantasy (1-6) - Ported and updated numerous times (GBA, DS, PSP, etc)

Sony

God Of War (1 & 2) - Given "HD" rerelease on PS3 (from PS2)

*Yes, generations HAS updated graphics of Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Casino Nights, Mushroom Hill (though really not) etc, but 1-3 (& Knuckles) haven't ever been given graphical release on a newer system from the Genesis, far as I know. Interesting thought I had.

Nik, I don't mean the Genesis collection(s) on the PS(2|3) Xbox (360) & Wii. To me (I am colorblind (red-green) . . . .) the collections still look like the Genesis games. Generations has updated looking Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant, Casino Nights but those are all in the same game . . . . . . The NES & SNES) Final Fantasies look really different on the GBA & DS & PSP compared to the (S)NES. As does Resident Evil Remake for Gamecube compared to the PS1 release of 1.

If you compared some of the remade games (Remake, Final Fantasy 1-4, Mario All-Stars . . .) to the oringal set of games there should probably be a noticeable change in the graphics, espically in FF 1 (NES) - black background for battle with a tiny window for the 'fight' - compared to like the GBA where it's now full screen and you can tell your in a grassy plane for in the moutains or swamp, I'd say that's a large graphics leap . . . .

Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles on the other hand, in all the rereleases, ports all (to me anyways) look the same, except compare like Genesis Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant & Casino to Generations and there's differenses there . . . . .

Sonic Adventure DX had updated character models. They actually had individual fingers rather than the solid blocks that was their hands on the Dreamcast.

@Teebor yes I know of generations, but the ORIGINAL genesis games and all those stages haven't ever (to my knowlege) given a 'update' and sold like Mario All stars (1-3 & lost-levels) . . . . .
