iPhone 3GS (5.0.1) not showing in iTunes (10.5.2) on Windows 7

Recommended Posts

Don't know if this is an issue on OS X after the latest iTunes update that rolled out recently, but my iPhone will no longer show up in the iTunes window once plugged in.

I've repaired the installation, unplugged the iPhone and plugged it back in on other ports etc. I'm just lost here.

Running iOS 5.0.1 on my iPhone

Latest build of iTunes on Windows 7.

"Apple Mobile Device" service running?

Says it's stopped, and when I attempt to start it I get a 'Access is Denied' error.

Edit: Was attempting to start from the wrong bit, just did now.

Heh. I just had this problem the other day on my laptop. I tried EVERYTHING.

I followed Apple's guide on properly uninstalling and reinstalling itunes. I made sure every apple-related file was gone. I removed every reference to iTunes from the registry. After reinstalling, It still didn't work! I had to format and reinstall in order to fix it.

Have you tried rebooting the phone or pc? Also, follow http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925 to do a complete uninstall of iTunes.

Fixed it with RadishTM's method, just started the service and unplugged/plugged back in the phone and voila, it's there. (Y)

Case closed.
