Flickering/Whiting-out of moniter (Windows Vista HP)

My friend has an HP dv2000 and his laptop's screen has been whiting out, as in every now and then the screen just fades out to white. The weird thing is that if you touch the back of the screen or push the screen to the far back position it seems to stop for a while. anyone had this problem before? I'm not good at this kind of stuff; if you've had it before, could you tell me what you did to fix it?

It sounds like the cable that connects from the LCD to the motherboard is cracking. If you reposition the monitor it probably does it. Check to see if the left hinge cover is cracked as well.

You have to open the area just above the keyboard and change the cable and should resolve the issue
