Need some Advice - PC to Mac

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

First off, I just want to say I really enjoy reading the posts from everyone on Neowin. They are enjoyable and informative.

For my question: I have a ASUS ROG g74SX laptop (8GB, 1TB, DVD/CDRW, Geforce gtx 560m 2GB, 17", i7 2GHZ). At the time that I bought it, I couldn't afford a Macbook Pro like the one I wanted (17", i7). However, I have a guy who is wanting to trade me even his 2009 17" Macbook Pro for my G74SX Laptop. The only games I really play much are MW3, WOW, and of course SWTOR.

So the advice I'm seeking is this: Would this be a good trade? There is nothing wrong with either laptop or macbook pro. My laptop I paid $1099 for new a few months ago. I really want the macbook pro, but I'm uneasy about losing the processing power that my laptop has.

Any advice?

Please don't start a APPLE VS Windows war. :)

Thanks.

the core 2 duo is pretty decent

my only problem with it is I've heard of the Nvidia models have had issues

There is no reason you shouldn't, if you have the money of course

The games you listed are light weight and you'll be fine

and yes, exactly as Muhammad has said, those games will run fine on it

I wouldnt make that swap if I were you. In addition to the MASSIVE hardware downgrade, out of the three games you mentioned only WoW has a Mac client. You'd be booting into Windows for the other two which kind of defeats the point of switching.

Thanks. But already made the swap. And yes, I did realize that I'd be using Bootcamp to boot into windows. I was prepared for that. So far, the last hour that I've kinda 'played' around with it, it seems snappy and pretty fast.
