Good Deal: Nokia Lumia 800 SIM-free for ?119.99 at Argos UK

In what it describes as an online exclusive, UK catalog retailer Argos is offering Nokia's Lumia 800 for just ?119.99 (about $186) with no SIM or contractual commitment in sight. That's a massive discount from the typical price for the handset, which is usually ?449.99 at Argos or ?399.99 at Amazon UK. So massive, in fact, that we had the sneaking suspicion it may be listed in error, so we called Argos to confirm and, indeed, the price is no mistake.

We were told that the Lumia 800 was actually available at its current price from Argos when it first launched, and that the return to the bargain price point may have been prompted by the release of the retailer's new season catalog. It seems like old stock of Nokia's first Windows Phone is being cleared out to make way for the new year's inventory of smartphones. That means if you want to try and secure an ultra-cheap Lumia, now's the time.

Heh, maybe that shows their syetem is being hammered by people trying to get one all at once? Should be a good sign if that's the case.

Why has the price been slashed so much? This reminds me of the HP Touchpad's firesale.

No, it's called aggressive marketing and creating brand awareness

It's both cheap and brilliant like most other things Nokia has pulled off over the past weeks..

Microsoft should be on their knees thanking Nokia for showing how these things are done right..

Not just the sheer number of people trying to order, but the HUGE exposure of brand worldwide once again, as wit the plane in India, the show in London, the bus in Vegas during CES.

Loving how it seems many here who think they know have no clue what is really going on.. Nokia is paving the way for the big guns coming...

When did you order?

Not working for me, it never loads when you click buy - other products work instantly. Shame I missed this, my iPhone is really annoying me but I can't afford to replace it.
