I saw a documentary once that speculated that the government used alien conspiracies as counter intelligence for the Russians.

The purpose would have been that when the Russians would get closer to finding out about experimental aircraft they would see the word "Aliens" keep popping up. Thus making the Intel less reliable.

I don't have any proof for it by I always felt it made sense.

No Aliens, its just a test site for the newest and badest war weapons.

They are working on the next genuration of Jet Plane as I type. To counter the Chinese J-20 and Russia PAK T-50.

I do know that many things that happen in "The Box" are really nothing to fret about. A friend who I've known a long time used to work on Watertown and controlled the airspace with 2 others. There's a good book to pick up, it's called "Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base". It's a great inside look into things, and will really give you those "AH HA" moments into why, what, who and when... It outlines much of what I knew, and filled the gaps to things that I always wondered about.

It's the perfect place to test new/prototype millitary aircraft considering it has seven runways, one of which is a whopping 7 km (4.3 mi) long (now closed)

Area 51 per se is dead now well not dead as its radioactive, but dead in that all the technology experimental equipment that was there has moved to other controlled areas.

As for Roswell the "facts" have been distorted to such an extent i.e. the blaming on launches of ballon tendered testing equipment which were actually years after the event,valid eye witnesses either being discredited or now M.I.A.s that it will be a wonder if anybody ever knows what actually happened.If you take the alien autopsy video as an example it has been stated by many sources to be a fake yet several modern film producers have clearly stated they could not have produced such a film at the time the film has been scientifically dated at.So there is ambiguity on both sides of the argument,you either believe or you do not.

Aliens are definitely there. The guy on the history channel says so.

I think the government fostered the ideas of aliens and such to draw off focus on the real intention of the area, testing experimental aircraft.
