Also it's no real surprise that after serious Batman we get a more serious Superman. Hell, now it's the new hollywood "in" thing, make serious and dark superhero movies. New spiderman, went that way, the new iron man movie is all dark and serious etc. We should just come to expect it now going forward, or for at least the next 5-10 years anyways.
So they are staying closer to the source...

I generally dislike the look of the modern superhero movies. It's very techy & "hollywood". The shots from this superman movie look really desaturated.

Rather more saturation in the uniform colors now. Good!

Odd. The logo is yellow in the display, but gray on the magazine cover.

It's yellow, but it looks like the whole magazine cover was shot by some instagram-hipster ;)

Superman Return's suit was textured too.

What's wrong with the texture? It reminds me of chainmail armor.

Personally I like it, though don't forget these are close ups of a static mannequin. It's unlikely we'll see this much detail actually in the movie, so the texture won't be anywhere near as noticeable.

We're not going to get the old style vibrant blue, red and yellow anymore. That type of style is over with. I think from looking at the new comics that even their the suits colors are of the darker tone.

Still not happy that they've ditched the iconic Superman score! That's just unforgivable!

And I was disappointed when the 1950's TV theme was ditched for the first Donner film. I got over it, and so will you.
