Estonian PM on ACTA

Recommended Posts

And I quote "All those who think ACTA will make any changes should wear a tin hat and eat seeds, we are going to sign it anyway"

When I first saw this I was like Wow...Really? How can a PM even say something like that to the people who have elected him there?

Anyway now it showed us how ignorant he is and most people believe that he just signed his "death warrant in politics"

Today thousands of people will gather and protest against ACTA (a couple thousands more will just go to see the PM fall probably)

This topic is made just to show You how ignorant politicians we got over here.

Oh hai, neighbour.

Unfortunately, I must say, regarding ignorance our politicians regularly trump yours. Our ambassador that was supposed to act on behalf of the nation (or at least the government) had gone and signed ACTA without any kind of parlamentary or other discussions whatsoever. Foreign Office now claims that they weren't informed at all that ACTA was about to be signed. Perhaps he thought he was signing a greeting card or something?

Now several ministers are being very bold in claiming that if parlament won't ratify ACTA then it will be thrown out of the window. Such boldness is no doubt fueled by pan-European protests giving a hope to downplay all the tremendous irresponsibilities. Not only that but some sources claim that ACTA is simply unconstitutional, therefore not only it shouldn't be ratified but was ineligible of having been signed in the first place, much less passed for ratification.

Lastly, I wonder what ACTA itself says on signing it and then trying to back out.

It's vexing...

With that I think I wanted to say that upfront stupidity is probably better.
