Ubisoft's PS Vita bullsh*t is truly incredible

Recommended Posts

The PlayStation Vita isn't even officially on widespread sale yet, but Ubisoft has wasted zero time in exploiting it for an easy buck. The publisher has never been afraid to fill a system with ports and retreads, but its behavior on the PlayStation Vita is utterly despicable.

Dungeon Hunter: Alliance is a launch title for the PlayStation Vita, but PS3 fans may remember the name. That's because it's currently available via the PSN for $12.99. Mac users may have spotted the game on iTunes, where it costs $0.99 right now.

On Vita? It costs $39.99.

Yes, it's had a few minor alterations, but it's ostensibly a big port. With that in mind, Ubisoft has had the amazing, jaw-dropping gall to sell Dungeon Hunter: Alliance at forty times the price of the original. I'd almost be impressed, if I wasn't so disgusted. There is absolutely no way that Ubisoft can justify a leap in price like that. Even ten bucks is too much, but forty? FORTY!? Wow ... just wow.

I thought you should be warned about what is one of the grossest swindles I've seen in a while. Our review of Dungeon Hunter: Alliance is coming soon.

Yeah this is shoddy. Look at Motorstorm RC, or Hustle Kings, or Top Darts. Buy the Vita version, all < $10, and get the PS3 version for free. Or if you have the PS3 version, get the Vita for free.

Trying to make people aware of the issue so they don't buy it.

I learned a lot from the last generation of consoles that I shouldn't be a sucker for what fantasies I'd like to think the publishers and devs would put out for consumers. I had been let down so many times simply from the fact that the industry changed to a position where I was s.o.l on the type of games I was wanting/expecting.

Is this price for the physical or downloadable version? Sony have the final say on pricing for downloads and it certainly seems like they're trying to rip people off for every last buck with everything Vita. I'd be surprised if Sony didn't have a hand in this extortion too.

I have stopped buying games from Ubisoft after all those DRM thing.

I considered doing that, but then I got one of their games for $5. DRM was a mild annoyance at worst and the game was high quality. That was pretty much the end of my boycott.
