Xbox UK to receive BBC iPlayer app 20th March

Recommended Posts

Dear xxx,

I am the Chief of Staff to Don Mattrick and he asked that I respond to your note regarding the launch of the BBC app on Xbox 360.

As of today, the app is expected to be available on March 20th. Of course there are still technical tests and a certification process that must be complete, so that date is subject to change.

We appreciate your patience in this matter and hope this latest information is helpful.

Mr. Greenberg | Chief of Staff, Office of the President

See, at no point have Microsoft or BBC ever called this a "BBC iPlayer" app, just a BBC app, so I wonder if there's any particular reason for that distinction. We know that BBC didn't want to release an iPlayer app because Microsoft wanted to restrict it only to gold - and all these new video service apps are for gold-only members, so it might be something a little different than what we're expecting.
