Ability to show hidden files like ".htaccess" without showing files like ".DS_Store".

Well... both, the default OSX dashboard weather widget is the same and equally useless.
iOS' Weather app has hourly forecasts something the widget lacks, so no they're not the same.

Why would it be poorly received that OS X has an application that looks like Google Earth, but better and built-in ?
If you’re an individual, it can be useful (for instance, I always use it before going out because I’m taking public transportation and it’s perfectly integrated here in Montreal). But if you’re a business, an app like this could also reveal itself useful : we were always using it in my pharmacy and the Pizza Hut where my friend worked for close deliveries, at our desks to know exactly where our buildings at the company are located and if we have the correct address, to enter our own business in the database, at our desks to choose restaurants on Friday, if you’re an engineer in a consulting firm, you can see where your client is, etc. So they’re good for all kinds of reasons - the productive ones, and the non-productive.
I really have to agree with Elliott on this one: It's an app that makes a lot of sense on a smartphone or tablet even, but not so much on a desktop computer.

1. Better dual boot menu. Why do I have to hold dowwn apple when I boot into windows 7? Just give us the option off the bat.
2. Get rid of the "real world" ****. I hate how calender looks like a '70's sofa.
3. Optimize everything.
4. Ditch Aqua. Get a new theme.

Based on your requests, OS X is clearly not for you.
1. It’s done to save time if you’re the kind to turn on your computer, go get coffee or a glass of water or get dressed in the morning, and come back to it.
2. Technology alienates us, if they can make it look like reality so that we come back to Earth when using computers, it’s simply wonderful. This has been in Jobs’ mind for years and years and it is now encrusted in Apple’s values since at least the release of the iPhone.
3. They have just done it by releasing Snow Leopard, and there’s also a lot of updates under-the-hood of Mountain Lion.
4. They have just revamped the UI in Lion. I doubt they’re off to a new start regarding this.

There is an app called invisibleX that shows all the files and folders that are hidden. It also allows you to permanently unhide or hide a file or folder of your choice.
