Porn Displayed On Best Buy Television, Customer Says She Feels Violated

Recommended Posts

"They, like, brush it off like it's...who cares? Nobody cares. It's pornography. And we are getting adjusted to that kind of mentality. That's why we are losing our morals," Berg says.

if they were true morals it wouldn't be all that big of deal. seriously, most of the USA takes naked bodies WAY too seriously, there is nothing wrong with a natural naked body, damn our Puritan heritage for twisting our views :rage:

Why do people always got to overreact to any kind of nudity(whether it be solo or sex) acting like it's the end of the world? it's kinda ridiculous.

You can blame the USA's Puritan heritage for that one :/

People need to stop being so damned stuck up and actually lighten up a bit.

News flash: displaying pornographic materials where a minor saw it is considered sexual abuse - usually a felony.

The only exception is sex ed materials in an educational context.

come on,we once did this as a prank on a colleague when I worked at a electronics retailer, when he was show some couple one of the many TV's on display.

due to a centralized audio/video distribution-system, we in an instant change all the tv's to a not-very-hardcore porn channel...the woman did not see this, as we change it back, but but my colleague and the husband saw it ;)

he wasn't of the sensitive kind, so he just laughed...while my colleague was turning more and more red by the second;)

oh the fun;)

This is why our world is falling apart...

So it wouldn't feel awkward for porn to be playing on a T.V while you're shopping? Personally I don't want to see that sort of thing while i'm shopping..

The manager should've said, "You think you're violated? How do you think SHE feels?"

People are way too uptight anymore. Maybe if they had something other than a stick in their ass they'd loosen up.

LOL, I lived in Greenville for a long time. Not surprised!

I mean, yeah, she's being a bit over the top about it, but Best Buy's reaction kind of surprises me. What if someone "used the Wi-Fi" (why/how the TVs are somehow on the network doesn't compute IMO) to upload something else "offensive", like a racist or heavily slanted political view, or something pro- or anti- abortion, etc...? They should have better control over their stuff than that, IMO.

"It was extremely, extremely pornographic image," customer Gloria Berg says. "I think even the word 'pornographic' doesn't cover it. I have never watched pornography, so I don't know what else you can see there, but to me, I really felt extremely violated."

"They, like, brush it off like it's...who cares? Nobody cares. It's pornography. And we are getting adjusted to that kind of mentality. That's why we are losing our morals," Berg says.

A) Lying does not become us. I'm not saying she watches porn everyday, but to say never once in her life she has never seen porn, well....c'mon

B) Nudity and porn have nothing to do with (bad) morals (IMO). Now, having a violent movie playing on that screen, see, that would be losing our morals (I have no problem with this either way) because violence should not be a natural thing. Sex is completely natural. What ass-backwards country we live in, I swear.

There is only one word for this woman: Pious.

Disclaimer: I work in Best Buy

There is an open network in Best Buy for the displays (no idea why it has to be open). While it's really aimed at the computers (displays, not work related ones), I guess this store had their TV fully connected as well and used some sort of app to push the content. Hell, if it was a TV with an Apple TV display, the push could have been done very very easily.

Well, it's really not as common for women, I think. I've never watched porn either. I don't really want to, don't think it would do anything for me. I don't have a problem with people watching it, I'm not against it like this lady is, just saying it's not my thing. Our minds work a little differently for that than men's :) I know some women enjoy it, but not as many as men.

/edit .. woops. pic had swearing. dont want to break rules. I'll type the quote

"It's now very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that.' as if that gives them certain rights; It's actually nothing more...it's simply a whine. It's no more than a whine. 'I find that offensive,' it has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that,' well so f**king what?"

While I agree with what you are saying. I was referring to, having seen. "Having watched," and "having seen," are two different things. I assume you have at least seen porn before, be it magazine, video, accidental web ad, etc. If you somehow have not, I stand corrected. I just don't see it likely in the age we are in today, to make it to age 25+ without having seen some form of pornography.

That's just poor planning, I'm sorry... I used to do tech support for a lot of different retail store chains. Some of them had open wi-fi networks for customers or testing equipment, but it was totally separate from the network used for the display speakers/things that are broadcasting in public, like these TVs--that was on the same secure network that the manager's PCs and back office equipment was on, and separate from the third loop the actual POS system used. Surely most of us can agree that if he's not lying (as I imagine he was, to cover an employee prank or something), that's ripe for abuse and just plain silly.

I'm conflicted. People bitching about porn are morans. On the other hand... I hate Best Buy and am happy for all the negative attention they get. Yeah, I'm gonna side with anti-pron guy.

I never got why people assume things about others they've never met.
