Google patent points toward Android desktop mode

Google is on a patent roll... good for them or else Apple will Patent troll Android.

More and more information about the desktop/laptop capabilities of Android Jellybean are surfacing by the minute! We told you about some of the big plans for a desktop feature that is reported to make an appearance in Jellybean and the latest Google patent seem to further support that information. El Goog's most recently discovered patent is for what can easily be considered one of the key features of any good laptop device, the multi-touch trackpad.

Google filing a patent for a trackpad doesn't necessarily mean it's for Android related devices. There could be any number of reasons for big G to want to pursue ownership of such an accessory but with the recent developments it's hard to ignore the coincidence. This could merely be Google's way to corner the market for any android laptop accessories that want to include a trackpad (we're looking at you Transformer and Transformer Prime) however, we wouldn't be surprised one bit to see trackpad capabilities built right into Jellybean.

You'll notice the key feature being reserved here is this trackpad's multi-touch capabilities. Regular mouse control currently works on Android but it can be clumsy and inefficient at times. Multi-touch gestures are the wave of the future and Google is further cementing its place in the mobile community here. Trackpad support coming standard on the next version of our beloved OS would just be icing on the big ass cake that will be Jellybean.
