Xbox 360 E71 error caused by update attempt using USB

Recommended Posts

So basically I'm trying to update my Xbox 360 with the software compatibility update by USB, using "default.xex" on the root of the USB drive, which is causing an E71 error. By far, all I know is that having it on the root is the only way I know that will load on the Xbox. Does anyone know the best step to make this work? I've looked all over Google, it's not easy finding the best solution for this. I seriously want to play Jet Set Radio Future.

Wait, wait. I'm a bit confused there. I checked the Xecutor forums for the JTagging, FSD, and such. But I thought the way they burnt the .xex right on a cd would work the same way as a USB. I'm a bit confused. I have an untouched Elite. (Hate that I have no internet at the moment and I'm really not able to get all that i need to even attempt a tether to my Xbox.)

Do you mean you are trying to install dashboard version 2.0.14719.0?

You put the $ystemupdate folder on the root of the usb key, not a default.xex

If your box is modded, and you have the lastest version of dashlaunch installed, then you have to rename it to $$ystemupdate.

Only ever install a dash update after installing the hacked version first.

also, the RGH is back in the game :)
