Can't trace text correctly, even with font

Question

Hi all,

I wonder if someone can help... I'm trying to recreate a logo so I can use it as vector. I've figured out the font is ITC Benguiat Bold but I can't seem to get it right! :(

Can anyone help? I've attached the PSD.

Thanks a lot guys! :D

Looks to me like the original characters are each individually rotated around a circle, rather than warped into a semi-circle.

You'd be better trying it in Illustrator, trace a circle that matches the bottom of the original logo's curve and use the path with the text tool to simply type around a curve rather than relying on Photoshop to distort the text.

Thanks for your post, but I don't suppose you could expand a little more on exactly how to do what you're suggesting? I'm a coder, not a gfx-guy and these things don't come too easy to me!

In the meantime, I did each letter individually and rotated/stretched each as needed... still doesn't look perfect, but I guess it's a case of playing with each letter.

If anyone thinks they can make the under-curve of the letters look "right", then the PSD's attached again.

Thanks! :)
