Izlude
I found some software called pepakura. It takes 3D models from programs like 3D Studio, Blender etc.. and it unfolds the shapes into a flat layout. From there, you can print/cut them out and fold them into paper crafts. There's a free version, but it's limited. It won't let me export vector graphics (the full version is about 40 dollars, 90 for the version I require) ouch ouch ouch!!! I'm hoping someone knows of a free alternative out there that can export vector graphics (that can be opened through my illustrator, which contains a full working cutting plugin.) HawkMan
You can afford illustrator but not a 90 buck software that does what you need?
Izlude
The Illustrator came with the cutting package. Please reply only if you have helpful answers. Thanks.

Izlude
Thanks Xinok! Something unexpected happened. One of the ads on that page lead me to something called "sketchup" which also appears to support unfolding 3D objects. This might be it :)
Izlude
Now I have a question about sketchup if anyone knows how to do this... Look at this example. I'm able to export this as a "2D graphic", however in order for it to work, I have to "orbit" and make the graphic face forward as flat and forward as possible. As you can see, the screenshot shows that it isn't quite "flat" (still jagged edges, indicating it's facing at a slight tilt) If I were to cut this out and glue a cube, it would be lopsided. Is there a special command to make it face perfectly forward? Or a plugin to make this happen?
daschwamn
Try using "command 1" or 2-6. If that doesn't work go to the camera tab at the top then go to standard views and click the one you need: top , left, right, front, back, ect.
