Random traffic stop leads to forgery and drug possession arrests

Recommended Posts

Police in Des Moines got quite a haul Wednesday night during a random traffic stop.

29-year old Vincent Ballard of Des Moines was stopped near SW 3rd and Jackson Street because there was no front license plate on his car.

Police searched his vehicle after they smelled marijuana.

After searching the vehicle, police found black leather gloves and ski masks, police scanners, two-way radios, chain, handcuffs, hypodermic needles, blank copies of Iowa Department of Transportation registration forms, and front and back copies of $100 bills.

Ballard has been charged with speeding, forgery, and drug possession.

It always amazes me why people who are in a position where they need to be causing as little attention as possible always manage to do something stupid to draw the aforementioned situation. Idiots...

Marijuana is the only drug cops can smell for the most part without the need of a drug dog. In most states Marijuana only brings a misdomeanor charge but people who have it on them usually are up to no good in a few more things as well.

Agreed.. your typical blazed college student is WAAAY less likely to be involved in other illegal activies than someone trying to pay their bills by selling it.
