Well I think the Philips is either a old model being phased out (as it is not avaliable in Philips' online store) or it is so good that it is selling like hot cakes :p (although I doubt it)

Amazon is where I looked for them:

?130 http://www.amazon.co...ASIN=B004ZHYY4W

I dont use Amazon because I cant.

Looked in places the ship to me and where I looked is pretty much the cheapest avaliable option.

Looked at the Amazon site (thought they didnt have one) and it is at 152 (the Philips)

That LG is at 129,95 . Things of life :p

No Panasonic....

If it were than easy :p

Sites give the player a pretty good review but users give it low: Locking up issues, drive breaks, trouble updating firmware, etc....

(Ah I knew I had something else to mention about the Philips! :p )

The Philips allows a USB keyboard to be plugged into it! I think that is one of the best feature which I did not expect at all any player to support.

Also Im not sure if the LG allows BD-Live content to be stored on a external USB drive.....Also unacceptable.

That being said, (unless the BD-Live thing isnt avaliable), Ill go for the LG still because the Philips is not in stock.

Anyone know if the BD670 supports BD-Live storage thru a external USB?

The Sony BDP-S370 that I have supports pretty much everything on your list except Wifi (although it can be added via USB). The next model up (can't remember the exact model number) does have Wifi though. The S370 runs about $150 but I got mine on sale for $98 a while back.

edit: the wifi model is the BDP-S390

On another note, any recommended 2D Blu-Ray movie? More to show off picture than sound (no good sound system is connected to the TV)

Thanks but 3 out of 4 of those (Avatar, Star Wars Saga and Toy Story 3) are really 3D orientated.

What...How is Star Wars 3D orientated....you can't even buy it in 3D. They've only just released episode 1 in 3D in the cinema to milk the cash cow....nothing 3D orientated about it....

The other 2 fair enough they were filmed with 3D in mind, but they still look amazing in 2D

OK then:

LOTR

Fast and Furious

Harry Potter

its kinda hard because most big budget movies these days are in 3D and most big budget movies are the ones which will "showoff" HD/Blu-Ray as you asked.

Finally received the LG BD670. Great and easy set up.....

However, I am returning it.

Reason? My WiFi is not picked up by it when 2 Androids and the TV (which also has WiFI) do. Unacceptable and one of the reasons I wanted a player with this is because of the WiFI.

So back to the drawing board!

Amazon doesnt carry any of the other three contenders:

Panasonic DMP-BDT210

Philips BDP5200/12

Sony BDP-S390

Panasonic DMP-BDT210 at ? 229,00 (way too much)

Philips BDP5200/12 at 139,99 ? (higher but Ill be willing to spend it) This being said, I think this player is being phased out as again at this time it is not avaliable.

Sony BDP-S390: Cannot find this online to buy.

Another option would be the Panasonic DMP-BDT110 or DMP-BDT210 again has everything you need, I have an older Panasonic and it's upscaling is very good...only issue with Panasonic is their Veira Cast (internet smart TV bit) is nowhere near as full featured as LG or Samsung's Version...so depends if upscaling or smart tv is more important....prices seems about the same though.

I got the DMP-BD210. Works great. Reason I got it was because it the reviews were just as good as the PS3 blueray. Loads movies fast as well. Really sucks you cannot do AVI playback tho but MKV works great. Has everything the OP wanted, but not so sure about the 3rd party/community support tho.

May be way to much, but the BDt210 works great. I dont mind spending a little extra on something as long as it lasts a while. Had mine for over a year and never had a problem with it. Would rather spend more than having to buy another in a year.

The LG cost me 120 which wasnt bad at all. The Philips is at 140 which all things considered isnt bad either. But 229 is WAY over the top....More so when Im not going to use it almost never (only to stream from my PC to that TV which I hardly use) It is a present but obviously not a expensive one.

While you comment that it works great, how is wireless range on the DMP-BDT210?

Ahh, if you are not going to use it much then price matters more. The wireless range is 7m/23ft. Never had a problem with it.

Exactly :) I would use it 1 day for 1 movie, 2 days tops....

7m? Damn.....that's pretty rough :( thanks for the help :)

The only thing that I can come up with is getting better antennas for my router, which is on the floor above it (the thing that is strange is that the TV i have which is above the bluray, gets the wifi signal more or less decent)
