"Something a bit different."

Speaking to IGN at the 2012 Video Game BAFTAs last Friday, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City director Sefton Hill spoke about Rocksteady's next game.

"For us it's a privilege to work with Batman. It's always been something amazing for us." But looking to the future Hill said, "It's great to be in such a position that we can kind of choose what we want to do next. We've started work on it, and it's something pretty exciting. That's one thing we can definitely say. We're really excited about it.

Asked when we'll find out about the new game, he replied, "Soon. Soon. But it's really cool, and it's something a bit different. It's really going to excite people."

Since the release of the critically-acclaimed Batman: Arkham City, there has been much speculation over the studio's next project. One high-profile rumour even suggested that a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game was in the works. 'Something a bit different' certainly implies a departure from the Batman franchise.

But when asked if Arkham City marked the end of the British developer's relationship with The Dark Knight, studio co-founder Jamie Walker cryptically replied, "If you know one thing about Rocksteady, we have a few surprises. So you'll have to stay tuned."

Batman: Arkham City picked up the awards for Best Action and Best Performance (Mark Hamill as The Joker) at this year's Video Game BAFTAs.
