I possess an official stand for my Nintendo 3DS.

Hooray.

That?s like bragging that you?ve got a Wii Speak for your Wii or a propellor for your telephone.

The Nintendo 3DS Stand (first seen in Japan) is free with every copy of this month?s Kid Icarus: Uprising, and it theoretically makes the game more comfortable to play.

Except? the game?s weird control scheme isn?t the kind of thing that a stand would appear to be capable of improving, unless this stand has a secret section that magically enables the game to be controlled as a twin-stick shooter (it doesn?t; and the Circle Pad Pro peripheral doesn?t, either).

This stand is just a stand. For a portable gaming system! You know, the kind of gaming system that one would not normally play while sitting at a table.

Nintendo has packed in some weird peripherals with their games. At least they?re not charging extra for this one. But? why?

Check out the video above to see more of this lovely thing and to enjoy the surprise twist when I show you a wonderful surprise that is part of every Kid Icarus box.

Even people who dislike Kid Icarus: Uprising would probably say the game is better than the stand. Me? I like the game. Just not this waste of plastic. Kind of nullifies the eco-friendly box, now doesn?t it?

Nintendo have been weird with peripherals lately. The Circle Pad Pro thing is weird too. At least it is after playing a Vita.

What's wierd about the Circle Pad Pro? It sucks that it wasn't included on the original system, but it's only right that they have released it, it's crap to play games like Snake Eater and Resi Evil without it.

Also the point of the stand IS to make Kid Icarus easier to play. People with smaller hands will possibly experience cramps while holding the system and stylus at the same time. I think it's great they they included it, it's free, so you can't complain. The fact they made a game with completely flawed controls on the other hand.... well that's just ****.

STILL, it's been getting mostly awesome reviews: http://www.metacritic.com/game/3ds/kid-icarus-uprising

Well that's subjective, but stylus aiming is certainly faster and more accurate than using a stick / nub / circle pad.

Yeh for sure, but every review points out the controls aren't great. Even the 90%+ reviews all have one gripe which is the controls. It seems like it bascially may have been the best handheld game of all time if the controls were perfect. Still, im looking extremely forward to this one, got it pre-ordered n all. I know iIl get used to the controls.

That is why I compared it to the Vita. Before I got my Vita, I didn't think the CPP was that bad, after playing a handheld with two inbuilt sticks, though, the CPP seems embarrassingly ridiculous. Nintendo were short-sighted and now they're paying for it with silly peripherals. Or should that be we're paying for it?

Personally i thought the sticks on the vita are awful in my try of it. They're a little too small and felt rather cheap, like they could be easily broken/damaged. Sure, the CPP might be a bit odd, but atleast it doesn't have the vita's problems.

Took me a little time to get used to it. I persevered and now they don't seem that bad.

This device is a much needed add-on.

I demand that I'll get one for my GBA SP, too!

I DEMAND the production of a peripheral for my SP...

Or can I use the DS one with it?

Probably not, it's WAY too risky (might fall and shatter into thousand pieces) ... :s
