^ Still waiting to hear a valid reason why you think "normal" people regard Sunday as the start of the week.

Those people who say about it being a weekend because it has both ends of the week, I would suggest "end" means after, not before. You don't say "to end this meeting, we'll start with..." do you? No, you would say "to begin this meeting...".

End (noun) 1.

the last part or extremity, lengthwise, of anything that islonger than it is wide or broad: the end of a street; the end of a rope.

If you want to apply the same logic but the other way round, you'd be saying things like "if you go to that beginning of the street..." <-- doesn't really make sense.

This. Even though I consider Monday the start of a new week, having my calendars set to start with Monday totally throws me off. I've tried it... just doesn't look right. Old habits die hard, I guess.

I never understood people who said that the week started on Sunday. However I tried to look at the situation, it still didn't make sense.

Sunday is part of the weekend. That's the end of the week. So it can't be the beginning of the week. That must make Monday the first day of the week.

If you go with religious thinking then God rested on the 7th day. That in itself is meaningless, since you could argue that Saturday is the 7th day and Sunday is the first. But when I consider the fact that most places around here are closed on Sunday, and I spend the day resting, it seems to fit that Sunday would be the 7th and therefore the last day of the week, making Monday the beginning.

I start work on a Monday, not a Sunday. And it was like that with school as well. My mind just doesn't let me compute the idea that I start work on the 2nd day of the week.

And finally, I've just checked three different calendars near me. Each one of them has Monday as the first day of the week.

For me, Monday is hands down the first day of the week. I haven't heard anyone offer evidence that points to Sunday making more sense.

Sunday is definitely the first day of the week. Monday is the start of my work week, but it doesn't change the fact that Sunday is still the start of the week. Think of it as a day off to start and end the week.
