uk car insurance

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, looking for some quick suggestions on insurance.

I drive an Audi s4 and my renewal is for ?850. That's with me and my gf on it. Not a bad price with me being over 25 with 7 years no claims and her under 25.

Anybody have any suggestions for insurers to try. I'm with admiral now, direct line said no for the car with an under 25 year old and I've tried Adrian flux a performance broker, but only got ?20 off my renewal

Give Chris Knott insurance a try.. have also heard good things about Sky insurance... :)

Given the car and given your age that's not that bad really! What year S4 is it? The 2.7 bi-turbo or the V8? :)

Keep thinking about a similar sort of beast now that I'm over 30 but was always put off by horror stories of S4 turbo's going pop. That and I know the "S Tax" that Audi apply to all S and RS car parts is bordering on daylight robbery!

Yeh I read similar things about the turbos before I got mine. Fingers crossed mine are still good, I think as long as the car hasnt been chipped youve got a good chance of them being ok. Good thing about the s4 is the parts it shares with the a4 are nice and cheap compared to the expensive bits!

The biggest factor seems to be mileage. I do just over 20k a year and my premium with LV is ?450, but if I did 10k my premium would be more like ?300.

I used to use Flux with my 205's as they're more specialist, but now I have a C2 I go main-stream. Direct line on my C2 at 10k miles was more expensive than LV with 20k as my mileage.

I normally do a quick compare the market and the go direct to the top few to see if its cheaper (plus you get a bit more play over the options), and go to the ones like direct line that arent on the comparison sites.

You can always phone for deals...I got ?50 off my renewal by phoning up and telling them what others had quoted so they reduced mine to keep me as a customer.

I got a good deal with esure. They were really good with sorting out my missing year of NCB too.

I photocopied all my old docs and showed them where the last company went wrong. No problem, the NCB is now correct.

Have you tried confused.com to see what loads of others are offering?
