Darksiders II the sequel to THQ's award winning action/adventure title.

  • THQ
  • Developer(s): Vigil Games
  • Genre: Action
  • Release: Jun 26, 2012
  • ESRB: M
  • PC, Playstation 3, XBOX 360, Wii-U

Plot:

THQ has confirmed that Darksiders II's story will take place in the same time period as the first game, only this time players will take control of the Horseman Death, instead of his brother War. The game will reportedly take place across an entirely new ensemble of maps, confirmed to be double in cumulative size to that of its predecessor. The game will also feature the remaining two horsemen (Strife and Fury) in some capacity. The game will take Death across multiple dungeons and city hubs. City hubs feature NPCs who can give out side quests etc. In the July 2011 issue of Game Informer, the cover feature details that one city hub will connect to a number of dungeons and that one city area will feature more dungeons than the whole of the original Darksiders. Loot will also be included, dropping from encounters as rewards ranging from 12 different armor piece categories, which can have different enchantments and may power up Death's Wrath Powers.
Darksiders II starts at nearly the same time as the start of the first Darksiders. After War is convicted and sent back to Earth by the Charred Council, they inform the other three Horseman of his fate. The Horseman Death, knowing that his brother War is the most honorable and incorruptible of the four, and would never have started the Apocalypse early, flies into a rage. Believing his brother is victim of a conspiracy, Death defies the Council's orders and sets out on a personal mission to find proof of his brother's innocence. Death travels to the Nether Realms, a place between Heaven and Hell, to call in favors from powerful beings that rule the realm.

Darksiders II Collector's Edition revealed:

$100 version of THQ's action game to include life-sized Death Mask, armor and scythe set, digital soundtrack, hardcover art book; Limited Edition also revealed.

Release date has been changed to August 14th from June 26th. I honestly think this game will be contender for game of the year but won't get the recognition it deserves. I hope I'm right. If they manage to get half the epicness that they put into the trailers into the game then it will be.

Damn I love green man gaming. $42.44 and I get both games. DEATH-LIVES-25OFF for 25% off DS2 and DS is just on sale right now 75% off. 2nd time in the past week I have bought a PC game on sale that I already had a console copy of lol. O well, I'll just go trade it in tomorrow.

Can't wait for this one. Playing as a horseman is cool and I like that these guys have mapped out the story for a trilogy from day dot so this isnt a tacked on storyline.

Xbox 360 copy with bonus content pre-ordered. Not enough in the collectors edition that appeals to me.

I am really looking forward to this game.

I just watch the giantbomb video and the developers said the first world is probably as big as the entire first game!

Of course that is exaggerated but even if it is half that, it is still massive.

Darksiders II, Sleeping Dogs and Tales of Graces F. Good month for gaming.

Bland port of carelessly misdesigned bland console game of the year award.

Actually, all reviews I have seen so far have given it very positive comments. I guess the PC is a terrible port. But then I'd argue that that is always the case with console games ported to the PC, so you should have learned by now.

I enjoyed the first game. Apparently this one is more of the same, but improved in almost every way. I'm definitely going to check it out.

I might get this game. I've heard that the combat amounts to mashing the same button over-and-over. Videos of the combat system look very Devil May Cry-like. So I dunno how long I can play until I'm bored...

For me, when I hear its a console port then I know that my 5 year old PC might run it OK :).
