Bungie Says Goodbye to Halo in style

Series completes its transition to 343 Industries.

Today, the Halo franchise completed its transition from original developer Bungie to 343 Industries. As previously announced, Bungie will no longer update stats or service records, host user generated content, or operate Bungie Pro through Bungie.net as of today.

Bungie previously confirmed that historical Halo data would remain on Bungie.net "for as long as the Internet and Bungie's data storage systems remain functional," and in order to make that happen, they've put a stunning amount of statistics in one spot. As the company's official goodbye, a gigantic infographic has been added to the site's Stats section. The graphic contains information on the number of matches played, the number of kills and even the amount of combined years Halo fans have spent playing the franchise's previous games.

Check out the full image below, and be sure to share your favorite Halo memory in the comments.

Very cool. Halo 2 is really what got me into gaming online, and I will always have fond memories of it. I kinda fell off of playing Halo when 3 came out, but have tried out Reach recently and it brought back some of those fond memories I was looking for.

Man, I owe so much of who I am to Halo, getting into everything I do today was because of halo (coding, designing, researching file formats/reverse engineering) was all thanks to modding Halo 1/2/3/ODST/Reach. Can't wait for either Halo 4 or Bungie's new game now :D.

Awww. Just like Lels said, Halo 2 is what really got me into online gaming when that first came out, and the unofficial "clan" I played with gave me the gamertag that I still use to this day. Loved 3 the best, I think. My favourite memory is once when we were playing teams, 4 on 4, and I can never remember the name of the level, but it was one of the very tall narrower buildings with the anti-gravity elevators and such. Anyway, I had an energy sword, came up an elevator, and the entire enemy team was standing there. All four of them. Before they knew what hit them, SWISH, SWOOSH, SLICE, SHAZAM I killed all four of them. My first and only Overkill medal (in multiplayer anyway)! My only regret is that I hadn't yet figured out how to replay and save video clips of the game yet, or I'd still watch that one to this day.

I don't think I've ever spent nearly as much time in any video game than Halo: CE and Halo 2. Especially Halo 2. All night, every night, with my fella and friends. Is it sad to say that I have a lot of very fond memories attached to those games?

And I can remember checking bungie.net as much as most people check Facebook, these days. </3

Halo 3 was my favorite. Lots of great times playing splitscreen with friends and online. There hasn't been a FPS game since that allows you to play up to 4 players local in an online game.

Halo has always been the game of split screen fun times :). Remembering all our Halo CE lans, warthog launching sessions, etc. So much of Halo is responsible for what I am today (which could be considered sort of sad, heh).

I'll never forget playing Halo for the first time on Xbox with my buddy. Hours and hours at night, trying to plow through the game. So much fun.

Halo + Duke controller = piece of my heart

I have nothing but respect for what Bungie was able to accomplish with Halo, they pretty much are single handedly responsible for making the First Person Shooter so popular on consoles, and if I had to pick Halo 2 would be the game I thought was by far the best out of the series from a MP aspect, but I never personally got the whole fascination with Halo and people treating it like it was the end all be all, as it always came off to me like a poor mans Unreal Tournament, especially UT2K4. I honestly think it is the game that is responsible for a lot of the so called "PC gamer elitist mentality," as I know for certain it drove us PC gamers crazy that people would refer to it as the definitive First Person Shooter. It definitely was on the XBox, but was far from it in the overall gaming universe. But for people who were not gaming on a PC, it was a pretty damn good introduction to the FPS, and as I said, nothing but respect for Bungie themselves.

I remember that I picked Halo by accident (to cash in some EBgames credit) a good 18? months after launch and I was skeptical reading about the premise. I started liking multiplayer because my roommates who were "non-gamers" could easily pick up the game. I think we had like a 3-4 regular gamers in a ~10 people in our weekend lan party group.
