Ashton Kutcher to play Steve Jobs

The King of Twitter is now the King of Apple, as "Two and a Half Men" star Ashton Kutcher is attached to play Steve Jobs in the indie pic "Jobs," which Joshua Michael Stern ("Swing Vote") will direct from a script by Matt Whiteley.

The film will chronicle Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time.

Five Star Institute's Mark Hulme is financing and will produce the pic, which is skedded to start production in May while Kutcher is on hiatus from his hit CBS series.

CAA, which reps both Kutcher and Stern, will represent the pic's domestic distribution rights.

While Kutcher was last seen in Garry Marshall's ensemble pic "New Year's Eve" and the romantic comedy "No Strings Attached," he earned strong notices for his more serious turns in David Mackenzie's sex dramedy "Spread" and Emilio Estevez's historical drama "Bobby."

Stern, who made his helming debut with the 2005 Aaron Eckhart vehicle "Neverwas," previously directed Disney's 2008 election comedy "Swing Vote," toplined by Kutcher's "The Guardian" co-star Kevin Costner. Helmer is also attached to direct Stone Village's "Carnaval," an R-rated comedy that pairs John Cusack with fellow CAA client Johnny Knoxville.

In addition to both CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, Kutcher and Stern are respectively repped by Untitled Entertainment and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Sony Pictures is currently developing its own Steve Jobs pic, based on the bestselling book by Walter Isaacson.

For a second, I thought the picture of Jobs "was" Kutcher at first, until I realized what I was looking at. He really does look a lot like him.

Ashton Kutcher to play Steve Jobs in indie film

In what appears NOT to be an April Fool’s Day joke, Ashton Kutcher is set to play Steve Jobs in an upcoming indie pic from Swing Vote director Joshua Michael Stern, EW confirms.

The film, titled Jobs, will be written by Matt Whiteley and chronicle the late Jobs’ journey “from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple,” according to Variety, who first reported the news. He is said to start filming in May after Two and a Half Men wraps its current season. (It is worth noting, as well, that Kutcher is not yet officially set to return for another season of the CBS hit.)

Jobs died in October after a battle with cancer.

As much as I can't stand Ashton Kutcher, he does have bear a striking resemblance to a young Steve Jobs. Unfortunately, I still can't stand Ashton Kutcher, so I'll pass.

Is Noah Wyle busy? He did a good job in Pirates of Silicon Valley. Hell even Jobs liked him.

He does look quite similar actually, The last serious film i saw him in must have been Butterfly Effect. He suits the stupid male comedy role but as a serious role as Jobs it could be tricky. No doubt it would be an interesting watch, as The Social Network turned out to be.

That's what I said in the other thread on the same subject. Makes perfect sense since Jobs got Pixar to where they are today.

That would be very fitting, and i'm sure they could touch upon stronger emotions from what they know of Jobs.
